Beautiful species from Brazil. the leaves are covered in small white hairs which make the leaves extremely soft to the touch. almost like touching a puppy’s ears. the plant grows from a round tuber which is partly submerged in the soil. The flowers are bright red/orange and are also covered in soft white hairs.
last picture shows the mother plant.
Care
Difficulty: Medium
Light: Half shadow/ bright light
Humidity: 50-80%
Temperature: Never below 15°C at night and at least 21°C during the day. Prolonged exposure to temperatures above 30°C can have bad effects on the plant.
Water/Fertilizer: This plant prefers the soil to dry out between waterings. In nature the plants endure a dry period where they will die back until water availability improves. In cultivation this dry period is not necessary. Fertilize lightly ones in a while to help tuber gain size and help plant reach to flower.
